Online dating could be the ideal medium for single soldiers looking for companionship as the practice is now widespread, it has been suggested.

Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Michael Hogan observed searching for prospective partners is a time-effective way of finding a possible soulmate.

The reporter noted around seven million individuals will sign up to online dating sites this year, resulting in the arrangement of 12 million meet-ups.

"The social stigma attached to cyber-dating has certainly decreased. I personally know seven people in serious relationships as a result of it," Mr Hogan explained.

He added a further five pals are currently playing the virtual field and explained modern society renders people technology-rich but time-poor – making web liaisons a viable solution.

A recent publication – the Ultimate Online Dating Playbook for Men – advised males to be patient and to invest adequate time in looking for love via the internet.
