Alice King, writing a piece for Cherwell Online, explained one activity to avoid is heading out to local clubs for a themed evening, which she described as being "as pointless as they are predictable".

She pointed to students as a group who are now dating in a very different way to previously, with more using dating apps and websites.

Such platforms are said by Ms King to be a step in the right direction towards online dating becoming entirely the norm among students.

It is said by the publication that more than a fifth of all new relationships now begin with the help of the internet.
