Several years ago Britons could be forgiven for feeling a little embarrassed about the idea of using online dating sites in order to find a new partner.
There was certainly a stigma attached to the process in the period before it became very much the norm for thousands of singletons.
Online dater Giuseppe Labellarte has written a blog for the Nottingham Post in which he urged people to ignore any stereotypical views of web dating that may still exist.
He suggested any views in 2014 are "unadulterated prejudiced nonsense", as online dating is the inevitable consequence of the internet changing how people go about pursuing new relationships.
"With technology woven into the fabric of our day-to-day lives, online dating should be viewed as a legitimate place as any to look for love," Mr Labellarte stated.
It certainly seems to have worked a treat for the man from West Bridgford, as he is in a happy relationship with a partner he met online.
