A skydiver may require £50,000 of medical care after his parachute broke and he landed on a van.
Ben Cornick plummeted from 12,000 ft while in Fiji and had to be flown to New Zealand for treatment once the fall went wrong.
Unfortunately for the adrenaline junkie, he forgot to buy travel insurance for his trip to Fiji, meaning he will have to fund his recovery.
Mr Cornick had to undergo an operation to save his leg, but could only be flown to hospital in New Zealand if £20,000 was paid upfront.
His parents used their life savings to fund much of the treatment and donations from generous Facebook users ensured the operation could go ahead.
But the true extent of the medical care he requires is not yet known as he may be in hospital for another three weeks.
His stepmother Suzann Lord said: "There has been a tremendous amount of people who don't know Ben but have donated money. It is hard to put into words how grateful we are."
