A hotel has put on a special charity weekend that resulted in more than £30,000 being raised for Help for Heroes.

Events including a ladies lunch, a jazz and blues fest, an online auction and a charity ball took place at the Balmer Lawn Hotel in Brockenhurst in aid of the good cause, reports the Daily Echo.

Owners of the hotel Chris and Alison Wilson allowed the takeover of their establishment to go ahead in order to raise as much money as possible.

They subsequently realised they had helped to raise £30,348.48 for the military charity.

Organiser Elaine Husband said she is keen to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported the event by giving their time or money.

"Our recent visit to Help for Heroes confirmed that it is essential to continue fundraising for our wounded servicemen and women," she stated.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801676207-ADNFCR
