A Help for Heroes recovery centre in Plymouth is £3,000 better off following a hugely successful charity event in the city.

The new complex at HMS Drake, which aims to support former soldiers overcome injuries and make the most of their post-military lives, has received the donation after a black tie ball, reports the Plymouth Herald.

In total, three charities were supported through the special ball, where a plethora of generous donations were made.

Money raised at the event has now been handed to Help for Heroes county coordinator Rob McGovern by volunteer coordinator Joyce Sharp and a number of other well-meaning individuals.

The ball just goes to show there is plenty people all around the UK can do to show their support for Help for Heroes.

HMS Drake is particularly concerned with revitalising the fortunes of ex-members of the navy, who may have been based in Plymouth during their years of service.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801669726-ADNFCR
