More than £2,600 has been raised by a club in the north-west, where a local band performed at a special charity gig
The Penarth Ex-Servicemen's Club has come up with £2,626 for Help for Heroes, with £2,326 of this coming thanks to the work of a music group, reports the Penarth Times.
Local band The Silverbacks were sponsored by local firms and friends who attended the show they put on at the club recently.
In addition, they took to the streets of Penarth to sell wristbands bearing the name of Help for Heroes, giving people a chance to show their support.
Club chairman Mark Holder said: "We have adopted Help for Heroes as our chosen charity at the club and hope to continue raising money with as many events as possible for this excellent cause."
People who fancy catching The Silverbacks in action can do so on October 5th, when they will once again be performing at the club.
