Couples who meet online are more likely to enjoy longer and happier marriages, if the latest research on the subject is to be believed.
New research carried out by the University of Chicago has found that more than a third of all weddings that took place between 2005 and 2012 involved couples who met via online dating sites.
It was also discovered that these people were more likely to stay together and have a satisfying life as husband and wife.
John Cacioppo, the Tiffany and Margaret Blake distinguished service professor in psychology at the university, said "it is possible that individuals who met their spouse online may be different in personality, motivation to form a long-term marital relationship, or some other factor".
With this in mind, all those people who are keen to settle down in the near future might be wise to get themselves online and chatting to like-minded individuals on dating sites.
