A man who has served his country and was injured in combat will get on the saddle next week in a bid to raise money for Help for Heroes.
Major Peter Norton lost an arm and a leg in a bomb blast in Baghdad and also suffered other life-threatening injuries, reports the Swindon Advertiser.
He will join his wife and her maid of honour on a cycle ride from Paris to London on May 28th and the trio have already raised in excess of £3,500.
Kate Norton-Hawkins, Major Norton's wife, said: "We are doing this instead of going on a honeymoon. We didn't see any reason to do anything else. We want to do this and we are taking part for all the right reasons."
The injured serviceman added that he spent two years in hospital and on rehabilitation programmes designed to help him get over his injuries, and during this time he became aware of just how important Help for Heroes is.
