More than 2,000 people have shown their support for Help for Heroes by attending an event held in aid of the charity in south Wales.

The Family Fun Day in Pontypool was organised by Natalie Wood, whose fiance Hywel Davies and brother Darren are both currently in service with the armed forces, reports the South Wales Argus.

She explained she is full of admiration for the pair who go into battle on behalf of Britain when called upon and she wanted to do something to display just how grateful she is.

Ms Wood stated: "The event was great, very busy and we had loads of excellent feedback. I’m really pleased with the amount raised for a first time round doing it."

As a result of the family fun day, more than £2,000 was raised for Help for Heroes, with money spent on activities such as crazy golf, a lucky dip, face painting, a bouncy castle and go karts.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801588728-ADNFCR
