Help for Heroes has benefited to the tune of £4,200 after a huge cake sale was held in Wales over the weekend.

Sally Amoore organised the event in Narberth, Pembrokeshire, and cakes and other treats were sent in from far and wide, with the produce later being sold to raise cash, reports the Western Telegraph.

It was part of the Colossal Cake Sale series, which involves baked goods being sold at similar events all over the country in aid of the charity.

Ms Amoore explained the total that had been raised in Narberth was more than double the original aim.

"People's generosity has been absolutely amazing and we sold every single cake by the end of the day," she stated.

Ms Amoore has a personal reason for supporting Help for Heroes, as her son Jamie was injured while serving his country in Afghanistan in 2009, when he became the victim of a Taliban mine in Helmand province.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801582411-ADNFCR
