Some online daters tend to get so involved with a person they meet on the internet that they can be left disappointed when they finally set eyes on their prospective partner.

Female First has told how more and more people are now logging on to the web in a bid to find love, and getting to know somebody through an inbox is very much the norm.

It told the story of Katie from London, a PA who spent three months speaking to a man before meeting up with him.

However, she was left hugely disappointed, as she found that in real life the two of them just did not click and her dreams that she may have found the one proved to be unfounded.

As such, it might be worth remembering not to fall in virtual love with somebody before meeting them in person, while a date reasonably soon after the first message is sent can ensure time is not wasted.
