Former soldier Christian Nock is walking 6,500 miles in order to raise funds for Help for Heroes (H4H).
He is going to trek the coastlines of England, Scotland and Wales as he seeks to collect £10,000 for the military charity, the Barnstaple People reports.
The epic challenge, which is the equivalent of walking from John O'Groats to Lands' End seven-and-half-times over, is expected to take between 18 months and two years.
Mr Nock is carrying all of his own equipment and sleeping rough, while he is also relying on the goodwill of the people he meets to help him get food.
He started off from Blackpool on September 8th 2012 and managed to reach the coastal village of Braunton by November 20th – which represents a distance of over 600 miles.
Mr Nock is already on his sixth pair of walking boots, while he has come down with a cold three times.
