Those who are currently dating soldiers online, or members of the armed forces who are hoping to meet a future partner through social networking sites, may be encouraged to hear positive comments from the author of a new study.
Jeffrey Hall, lead researcher of a study on internet dating that was recently published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, says that when people are involved in online relationships, it is unlikely that they will behave any differently to how they would in a face-to-face situation.
"Our findings dispel the myth that people using online dating are that different than any one else who might find a relationship through friends, school or work," he states.
More than 5,000 individuals were questioned as part of the survey, which discovered that the likelihood of people misrepresenting themselves online is actually "very low".
Rochelle Peachy, an internet dating guru, recently told the Sun that honesty is always the best policy when it comes to cyber relationships.
