Chinese pensioner uses traffic doll to slow down drivers

A Chinese pensioner has come up with a novel way of controlling the traffic on her street.

Lin Chen was fed up with the number of accidents taking place because of speeding motorists.

Now she has found a way to get their attention, by tying a blow up doll to one of the trees so they slow down and look at what they think is an attractive young lady.

"There are a set of traffic lights near my house and the cars just shoot through them as fast as they can. The police aren't interested so I bought [a] doll," Ms Chen remarked.

Apparently the madcap scheme is actually working, as police officers have admitted accident rates have fallen since Ms Chen brought out the doll.

A law enforcement spokesman said although it isn't a method they could recommend to others, it has been getting drivers to slow down.
