Some £2,675 has been raised for Help for Heroes (H4H) by a group in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
The Resurgam Trust organised a series of events – including a sponsored hill walk and pool and darts competitions – to collect cash for the armed forces charity, Lisburn Today reports.
Francis Ferris, fundraising co-ordinator for the trust, noted H4H was chosen as it best reflects the needs of the local community.
"Staff at Resurgam have friends, neighbours and family members serving in the armed forces and many have completed recent tours of Afghanistan," he added.
Lagan Valley MLA Brenda Hale was also singled out for praise by Mr Ferris for her commitment to the initiative.
Ms Hale observed it is great to see a community supporting a military charity, particularly in the current economic situation.
She added it is uplifting to know people are helping raise money to offer practical support to the armed forces.
