A fundraising event held at Torquay has collected over £6,000 for military charity Help for Heroes.
Torquay Golf Club's ladies' captain Vonnie Evans put on a special dinner that featured Shirley Bassey, Diana Ross and One Direction tribute acts, This is South Devon reports.
Some 12 Royal Engineers and four Royal Marines took part in the event and they had only been back in the UK for two weeks.
The final total from the sell-out extravaganza was £6,717.
As well as musical numbers, there was also a performance of the Two Ronnies classic Four Candles sketch.
Ms Evans is not the only person who is collecting cash for the armed forces charity, as a Sidmouth rugby player and two friends are hoping to cycle from John O' Groats to Land's End – a distance of 1,000 miles – in 12 days.
Andrew Dare told the Sidmouth Herald that they will be doing the project completely unaided, so they have to carry all of their own equipment.
