Singer Ellie Goulding and superstar DJ Skrillex struck up a relationship after talking online.

The musical pair only went public with their courtship earlier this year, but the internet was used as the first means of communication between them.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Skrillex – who was born Sonny John Moore – stated after sending each other messages on the web, they started texting and talking, before finally meeting up in the US.

He went on to note that they are not a "public thing" at the moment, hinting they prefer to keep their relationship private.

The budding romance between the Grammy Award-winning artist and Goulding – who emerged top of the BBC Sound of 2010 rundown – showcases how the internet can bring people together.
