A group of army chefs have created a range of homemade cakes that will be auctioned off to raise money for three armed forces charities.

The military personnel are all members of the 2nd Battalion of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (2 LANCS) – which is stationed at Weeton Barracks in Lancashire – and they made the treats for the British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association, ABF – The Soldiers Charity and Broughton House, the Lancashire Evening Post reports.

Lee Wolstencroft, food services warrant officer of 42 Brigade, said the standard of cakes made was "outstanding" and all those who took part should be proud.

"We're thrilled to be able to present them to three such deserving charities which do so much good work for those who have been injured in service," he added.

It comes after 2 LANCS – a regular army infantry battalion – returned to England after having been stationed in Cyprus until September 2011.
