It is easier to make a long-distance relationship work in this day and age because of advancements in technology.
This assertion was made by relationship psychologist Paula Hall and it may be of interest to those looking to date British soldiers.
She noted that provided "both of you are equally committed to the relationship", then the challenges they will face can be overcome.
"The most important thing is to talk about ways that you can keep in touch," Ms Hall remarked.
Key to making the courtship work is planning well in advance when and where to meet up.
Ms Hall noted that if both people involved in the relationship are open-minded, the distance can actually be beneficial to the entire process.
It comes after John Rushton stated individuals should not be afraid to jump straight into it if they feel a connection.
He added laying the cards on the line is the best way to proceed.
