Everyone knows that salmon are capable of making amazing journeys by swimming upstream for extended periods.

However, some of the fish have been caught taking this to the extreme and trying to cross a rain-soaked road.

It happened in Mason County, Washington, after a heavy downpour left water levels increased by two inches.

Not happy with trying to navigate a street, the intrepid travellers also seemed to have an understanding of the Green Cross Code, as they stopped for advancing traffic.

Professional fisherman Conway Bowman told the Huffington Post that this can happen if it is spawning season.

It appears that so randy are the fish that they are willing to sacrifice everything in order to make sure they get to their destination.

I'm not sure what is more impressive, the fact salmon can swim over roads, or that they have the sense to look left and right before doing so.
