Drunk driver nearly parks car in river

I've heard of parallel and reverse parking, but never water parking.

But this is what a drunken Swiss man tried after one too many on a night out.

Peter Thaler was coming home in heavy fog after drinking and took a left that he thought would bring him to a garage.

Unfortunately for him, it was actually a boating slip ramp and Mr Thaler only managed to stop his car going for a swim by a matter of feet.

Realising he was over the limit, the motorist climbed out, walked home and retuned for the motor in the morning.

However, when he got there Mr Thaler was breathtested by police and still found to be over the limit.

As a result, he has lost his driving licence and had to fork out for the recovery costs of his vehicle.

"He was confused because of the fog, but mostly because of the drink," said a police spokesman.

That'll teach him to phone a taxi next time!
