Online dating can be used to help people rebuild their confidence when it comes to relationships.
This is according to Peter Spalton, founder of thedatingdoctor.co.uk, who remarked that as the initial encounter is not "face-to-face", men and women have time to think about what they are going to write.
As well as this, individuals will find looking for that special someone through this method can be cheap.
Mr Spalton continued by suggesting that single soldiers and others have to be willing to go on a number of dates before finding the right person.
"Dating is about connecting with as many people as possible and then meeting with them if it works," he remarked.
The specialist remarked that if there is a spark, suggesting a further date is a good idea.
Relationship counsellor Denise Knowles recently said that online dating is a great way for people to brush up on their flirting techniques.
