A solider who lost three limbs in Afghanistan is to be aided by a charity in finding a new home and adapting it so it is liveable.
Private Alex Stringer – who noted the army has been "great" since he sustained his injuries – is being offered support by Limbcare as his current home is unacceptable as he is now in a wheelchair, the Mirror reports.
Some £150,000 of the Help a Hero at Home fund has been set aside to provide assistance to Private Stringer.
Ray Edwards, who is a quad amputee and the founder of Limbcare, said: "He is a war hero and should therefore be at the very front of the housing queue."
The organisation will adapt the kitchen, install a wet room, widen the doorways and build a stair lift and ramps so that the serviceman can get around easier.
A Thurrock Council spokesman remarked that efforts are being taken to locate Mr Stringer suitable accommodation.
