To help British boys and girls take down the Taliban, the Ministry of Defence is sending them new and improved uniforms which will help them blend in with their surroundings a bit better.

In what is the first uniform change since 1968, the multi-terrain pattern will become the staple kit of the entire British Armed Forces eventually.

The new clobber will work across the many terrains that Helmand Province has to offer, including woodlands, grasslands, crops and any other environments troops encounter when out on patrol.

Lieutenant colonel Matthew Tresidder, chief of staff for Defence Clothing, said the uniform is exactly what is needed, with the seven different colours involved helping soldiers do what they do without being seen by the enemy.

"The new camouflage has undergone extensive trials to ensure we have the right pattern to blend in a host of environments troops encounter while patrolling the frontline," he added.
