Soldiers in Afghanistan are benefiting from impressive gadgets to assist them with their work.

The Daily Telegraph has published footage filmed by Corporal Donald McMaster, who used night vision to show how technology is helping himself and his colleagues.

It shows convoys travelling through the country in the dark, but the military gadgetry gives the impression that it is light, allowing the soldiers to see each other and their surroundings.

Corporal McMaster is currently part of a project where he is documenting a six-month tour of Afghanistan, as seen through the eyes of the 5th Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Other soldiers to take part in the publication's initiative include Sergeant Billy Carnegie and Private Peter McQuade.

In January, the Sun reported on new equipment provided for troops battling against the Taliban, stating soldiers were being given revolutionary new rifle magazines made from see-through plastic in place of older metal models.
