Living beside a motorway must be really annoying, as getting to sleep at night will take a long time. The mornings cannot be too pretty either, as rush hour traffic means you’ll never be able to get a lie-in. So spare a thought for an elderly couple in the Chinese province Zhejiang, who have been left living in the middle of a motorway. Planners wanted an apartment block demolished so they could build an access road to a new railway station, but a family refused to move because they felt the compensation wasn’t adequate. Instead of prolonging the case, the developers chose to just build the road around the apartment and bulldozed the rest of the structure. It led a rather bizarre looking road and a very annoyed couple, while neither of them seemed to be ready to back down. You have to admire the determination of the couple, but I think I would have just moved out. Posted by Mark WilkinsADNFCR-2867-ID-801502605-ADNFCR
