Hero troops battling against the Taliban have been given a boost – as they are being equipped with revolutionary new rifle magazines.

According to the Sun, soldiers are swapping older, metal models for plastic see-through ones that enable carriers to see how many bullets they have left.

More than 100,000 charges have been sent over to Afghanistan and the delivery has been welcomed by those fighting in the country.

Corporal Stevie Japp of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, said: "The little window lets me see how many rounds I have left at a glance – and it's a lighter and more robust design."

The soldier added the new dust cap feature allows servicemen and women to keep their ammunition clean and free of sand.

It may be news that is welcomed by former armed forces member Richard Hughes, who recently told the Worcester News he plans to hold a 24-hour tattoo marathon in aid of Help for Heroes.
