Our service personnel have stepped up repeatedly when it comes to helping fight the pandemic. The Tennessee National Guard recently hit a milestone when the Airmen and Soldiers conducted around 500,000 tests throughout Tennessee.

Tennessee’s Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Jeff Holmes, spoke about the spirit that the soldiers have shown to get the job done: “Administering half-a-million tests in support of our state department of health partners says a lot about the commitment and dedication of our Soldiers and Airmen. They have tackled every obstacle in their path and have continued to provide a great service for our fellow Tennesseans.”

Over 500 members of the guard are currently working to help with anti-Covid-19 measures. The number has jumped from 250 Soldiers and Airmen in March. Their contributions have definitely had an impact on helping control and curb the spread of the virus.

Members of the guard are working closely with the Department of Health to work on more than three dozen sites across the state. In addition to testing, the team is also working on longer term care facilities, and state correctional facilities, hot-spot areas, and more. In Tennessee, their efforts have ensured that people who are looking to get tested don’t have to worry.

“Our Soldiers and Airmen are fully committed to this fight. They have sacrificed their well-being while being away from families and the comforts of home, all so we can try to conquer this pandemic and save lives. I’m extremely proud of their commitment and effort,” Holmes said.

Even as a vaccine has been released, everyone knows that the pandemic is far from over. It is the contribution and hard work of our service personnel that helps keep everyone safe. They are putting themselves out there in the line of duty so we can be healthy. Let’s continue to support our soldiers in their efforts.
