A couple from the Midlands saw their dream of a Caribbean holiday ruined recently when they booked tickets from the wrong Birmingham.

Kevin Jones and his partner Jeanette were delighted to book bargain tickets from Birmingham to the tropical island of Trinidad for around £800.

Not even the fact the journey to the Caribbean destination was from Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport raised suspicion to begin with.

They only found these flights were from the city of Birmingham in Alabama, US rather than the West Midlands when they arrived at their local airport.

"The girl at the information desk broke the news with a very sympathetic look that our flight was leaving over 2,000 miles away," Mr Jones told the Sun on Sunday.

As a result, they had no choice but to leave the airport and drive home, although they made up for the disappointment by instead taking a break in Benidorm, Spain.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801681594-ADNFCR
