For three months last summer, ITV was given exclusive and unprecedented access to troops serving in Afghanistan and tonight the public can see for themselves the risks soldiers face each day.
Road Warriors will be aired on the channel at 22:35 GMT and follows a mission from start to finish, giving people back home the chance to meet the men and women behind the uniforms.
It will pull no punches, with explosions and fire fights all captured and painting a picture of what life is like for those fighting for Queen and country in this hostile environment.
Tonight’s episode will follow troops whose job it is to supply bases all over Helmand Province and sees them dodging Taliban gunfire.
"Road Warriors shows the reality of being caught in the middle of raging Taliban gunfire, tracks a suicide bomber as he searches for the convoy and shows the emotional reunions which take place when the troops arrive back home to see their friends and family," ITV stated.
There will be four episodes of the series, with one being screened each week.
