A number of golfers from the north of England will soon take part in an event being run at a Catterick golf course in aid of Help for Heroes.

Catterick Golf Club is hosting a charity day on September 6th and all the proceeds will go to the military cause, reports the Northern Echo.

John Ross, chairman of the golf club, said there were no doubts that Help for Heroes was the right charity to support through this event.

"Lying at the heart of the garrison, it is not surprising that there are quite a few retired and serving military personnel among our members," he explained.

A similar charity day was held by the club last year and it raised almost £12,000, with that amount being donated to the Herriot Hospice Care in Northallerton.

There was also a special captain's event put on by the club in the recent past and that raised £5,000 for Help for Heroes.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801621700-ADNFCR
