A brave soldier who lost a leg while serving in Afghanistan has revealed that he wants to return to the army and continue his tour of duty.

Guardsman Ciaran Muir had to have his leg amputated after he was injured in a blast in the Helmand Province region of the country, the Manchester Evening News reports.

But his injury has not done anything to deter his spirit. Ciaran’s sister Carole-Anne Spencer said: "There’s no two ways about it, he wants to stay in the army. He’s not been put off at all, he’s still proud of himself and proud to be in the Coldstream Guards."

The soldier has been back in the UK for a month, being treated for his injuries at Birmingham’s Selly Oak Hospital.

Carole-Anne went on to add that the guardsman has no regrets and remains a proud member of the British Armed Forces.

Similarly, despite losing both legs and an arm in battle, the Oxford Mail recently reported that Corporal Tom Neathway wants to return to Afghanistan to continue his tour of duty.
