The Conservative leader is currently taking part in his first visit to the country as prime minister and has been addressing the troops.

Cameron reassured the servicemen and women their efforts abroad are crucial to ensure safety at home.

He stated: "This is not a war of choice, it is a war of necessity. This is not a war of occupation, it is a war of obligation."

The Taliban training camps the soldiers have worked so hard to eliminate in Afghanistan would return if the armed services were to pack up and leave the country now, the politician remarked.

It is therefore necessary to stay until the Afghan people can provide their own security, he added.

Prime Minister Cameron recently announced £67 million is to be provided to the Armed Forces to aid it in its constant battle with the Taliban threat.
