Online dating has proved it can work for people of all ages, after a 90-year-old woman married her partner who she met using the platform.

Molly Holder decided to head to the web aged 89 and tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "I knew some prince on a white horse wasn't going to ride up and sweep me off my feet, so I had to do it myself."

She spotted 82-year-old Edward Nisbett and began emailing her love interest before they met up in person.

Ms Holder's grandson escorted her to their first rendez-vous and says "they've been inseparable ever since".

They got engaged quite quickly and married last week, with the new Mrs Nisbett saying she has now found her prince.

Relationships writer Jim Duzak recently told the Green Valley News that singletons should look at their dating profiles as a form of salesmanship and ensure they give the best possible impression of themselves.
