Hot soldiers keen to ensure they are as fit and healthy as possible would be wise to acknowledge any health worries.

Peter Baker, chief executive of Men's Health Forum, warns too many males ignore their wellbeing and are either too proud or too busy to visit their GP with any concerns.

But this could all be set to change with the use of technology, as Mr Baker says this allows men to seek out information without having to feel embarrassed by a face-to-face meeting.

"Over 40 per cent of men die prematurely before the age of 75, yet too many ignore health problems and are reluctant to speak to healthcare professionals," Mr Baker notes.

A number of males have been raised to believe they must be "strong and stoical", which tends to mean they do not like visiting their doctors, but this could soon be a thing of the past thanks to IT innovations.

Men's Health Week 2011 is currently running and is focusing on how technology could be used to boost wellbeing.
