A pair of factory workers are preparing to take on a 77-mile trek to show their support for soldiers and raise money for Help for Heroes.

Craig Bedwell and Philip Bertenshaw are from Highbridge in Somerset and will head to the Isle of Wight to take on the feat, thisisthewestcountry.co.uk reports.

They have earned more than £1,000 in sponsorship already, but would like to increase the total once they begin the challenge.

Mr Bertenshaw said: "We chose Help for Heroes after seeing news reports about the soldiers at war and decided we wanted to do something to help and show our appreciation."

They will take on the task in just three days and have experience in long treks following a 630-mile hike around the south-west coastal path, which took them two years to complete.

It was recently revealed that a more bizarre fundraising scheme was to take place, with Eggs for Soldiers being launched by Noble Foods to earn money for Help for Heroes.
