The Guardian spoke to singleton Annette Hoffmann, who has used the platform to go on a number of dates and speak to new people.<\/p>\n
She says she has met up with a number of people and when things have not worked out it is usually a result of "a lack of spark".<\/p>\n
"But still, it's a nice evening getting to know a stranger and that's not a bad thing – I think you can learn a lot from people," Ms Hoffmann explains.<\/p>\n
Some people may be tempted to go on many dates when they first join an internet dating site, but this can be time consuming and take a lot of effort, so being more selective might be a good idea, she adds.<\/p>\n
And others may well meet Mr or Mrs Right, as the Daily Mail recently revealed Christine and Chris Rae got together and went on to marry after becoming internet penpals.<\/p>\n
