A teenager is set to show his support for soldiers by taking to the air on a charity skydive.

Dale Hodson from Dedham is 16 years old and plans to undertake the mission to raise money for Help for Heroes, the Chelmsford Weekly News reports.

He will be joined by his 24-year-old brother-in-law Brett Davidson and the pair aim to earn more than £600 for their chosen charity.

Mr Davidson's brother is currently serving in Afghanistan as an engineer alongside troops who are based in Colchester.

He and Dale will take to the skies on April 9th, providing the weather is suitable.

The 16-year-old said: "I needed my parents' permission because I am not 18, but they are fine with me doing it and are very supportive."

A similarly brave feat was recently accomplished by a seven-year-old girl named Isabella Smith, who climbed Mount Snowdon with her friend and dog to raise funds for Help for Heroes, the Salisbury Journal revealed.
