Single soldiers looking for love online would be wise to take a close look at their profiles and ensure they are free of any mistakes.

Writing for the Gateway, Lauren Gagatek states spelling and grammar errors can give a poor impression to potential love interests.

"Not only does that make you look uneducated, but it makes you look careless.

"The internet is all about first impressions," she explains.

Ms Gagatek believes internet dating is a great way to meet people, particularly those who are busy with work or studies and have little time to head out.

As well as concentrating on good grammar, the writer suggests ensuring any pictures added to profiles should be modest and not give the impression that the person is trying too hard.

This follows suggestions from the Independent, which recently advised new couples to be honest and create a relaxed impression when going on first dates.
