After many weeks of avoiding public gathering, the Queen herself was present to Knight Captain Tom at Windsor Castle. The ceremony took place outdoors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 100-year-old World War II veteran earlier made history by raising over &pound;32 million for the NHS. He walked a 100 laps in his garden, and in doing so did more to help fight the current pandemic than most. He had started out with a simple goal of &pound;1,000 but raised so much more. He has become an inspiration to many in these trying times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In April, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WW2?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WW2<\/a> veteran, Captain Sir Tom Moore embarked on 100 laps of his garden with the aim to raise &pound;1,000 for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NHSCharities?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NHSCharities<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/captaintommoore?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@captaintommoore<\/a> has now raised over &pound;32 million for the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NHS?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NHS<\/a>, and inspired so many people along the way. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wVIIsR6k8B\">pic.twitter.com\/wVIIsR6k8B<\/a><\/p>&mdash; The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RoyalFamily\/status\/1284140033243480066?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 17, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The newly Knighted veteran has captured the hearts of the people with his charm and dedication. He has put the soldier in his heart to work to reach new feats, even at this age.
