A trio of soldiers have taken to the ice in a bid to raise money for troops wounded in action.

The three servicemen – themselves suffering from injuries – decided to get their skates on and headed to the Sandy Balls Holiday Centre to generate cash for Help for Heroes, the Daily Echo reports.

Corporal John Legaloudec, lance corporal Tyler Christopher and captain Bernie Bambury had a go on the rink despite their injuries – and the day's takings are being donated to the cause.

Mr Bambury commented: "Help for Heroes has raised a really good amount of money and is making a real difference to the lives of soldiers."

Work to raise money for the charity needs to be an ongoing effort, he added.

Last week, Biggleswade Toady reported Stotfold local resident Bridget Smith is organising a special dance night that aims to collect more than £1,000 for Help for Heroes.
