A little birdy told us that Tom Hardy will be taking up the role of a British Special Air Service (SAS) war hero. The star has taken up an incredible line of roles in the past, many of which are rugged, lethal characters who hold their own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hardy will play the hero Lt. Col. Blair “Paddy” Mayne, who was among the unit’s 100 founding members in 1941. Hardy’s performance has ranged from playing deranged villains to heroes none of us can get enough of. No matter what he takes up, he does serious justice to the role. We can’t wait to see how he brings Paddy to life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But whenever we talk about strong stories, we normally also take a look at the screenwriter. Hardy may feel right at home, as Steven Knight, who wrote Peaky Blinders, will be writing the SAS series too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The show is based on a 500-page archive of events that SAS members recorded, which were collected and compiled by journalist Ben McIntyre. Keeping in mind that all the events recorded are completely true and accurate, the movie will definitely honour the best of our heroes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paddy himself had a very interesting life, ranging from being an aspiring rugby star to becoming an efficient killer. According to McIntyre, Mayne had a ‘short’ fuse and a very troubled soul despite him being an exceptional soldier. Of course, his military expertise was stunning since he received many awards, the most important one being the Distinguished Service Order, one of the United Kingdom’s highest military honors, (which he received four times!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His contribution to the military and his sheer intelligence stood out in times of war. It was the countless efforts of the SAS operations that helped the Allied Powers emerge victorious at the end of World War II. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mayne’s life was short-lived as he was tragically killed in an accident at the age of 40. This TV series will join many other books and films that have commemorated this hero’s life. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
