A naughty calendar featuring everyday girls from the north-east has been produced in an effort to raise cash for injured troops.

Women were recruited from Newcastle, County Durham and Darlington – through Facebook – to take part in the shoot, which will see proceeds handed over to Help for Heroes, the Northern Echo reports.

The item was shot by Darlington-based photographer Anthony Connell, who used to serve in the army for six years.

He noted: "We got a really good response from everyone – there were ladies from all over interested in taking part."

The product features females – including shop assistants, students and hair dressers – clad in military gear, which was provided by Genuine Army Surplus in Darlington.

Those looking to by one of the calendars will have to part with £13.98 – around £4 of which will go to the Help for Heroes cause.

A Christmas fair held in Perthshire that was organised by Lisa Hector and Katie Whitson recently raised money for the charity.
