Troops wounded in action are set to benefit from a party being held in one of Perthshire's grandest estates.

Strathallan Castle will play host to a ceilidh – a traditional Gaelic social gathering – on December 11th and proceeds from the event are being donated to Help for Heroes, the Perthshire Advertiser reports.

The night is being organised by Posy Moody and will include food, music from the Chitterybite ceilidh band and a raffle.

Ms Moody described the charity as one that is very close to her heart.

She noted: "When I learned about the work Help for Heroes and its Headley Court Rehabilitation Complex, I knew I had to help out."

The former servicewoman said the facility is fantastic and observed the wounded soldiers there are inspirational.

Teenagers Laura Keeley and Meg Lewis are also aiming to generate funds for the cause and are organising a black-tie ball that will take place in January, the Bourne Local reported.
