Single soldiers who hook up with potential partners through the internet may find the most effective way to approach a date is to be themselves.

This is because a number of contributors to the My Sun's Woman Forum stated uncomfortable flirting is not always a viable option, the Sun reports.

One user, named Deeadors, warned men not to attempt cheesy chat-up lines when meeting somebody new.

She warned: "Even if you make a girl laugh with your opening line it's hard for the conversation to not fall flat in the next few seconds."

Another contributor by the name of Just-samuel suggested playing silly games is unnecessary as there either will or will not be a mutual attraction.

"You either click or you don't," the respondent explained.

Relationship author Sue Olster recently claimed online dating provides a useful forum where likeminded people have the opportunity to converse with other singletons who share the same interests, UK Net Guide reported.
