A former soldier has shown his support for injured troops in the form of a tattoo.

David Keatley raised hundreds of pounds for Help for Heroes by having the charity's logo inked on his lower back, Burnham-On-Sea.com reports.

More than £500 had been raised by the morning of the event and there is further funding promised from sponsors.

Tattoo artist Brendan Neale provided his services for free at Inked Images in Burnham.

Mr Keatley said: "I would like nothing more than to raise money to help in providing support for wounded servicemen and women injured during the course of duty."

He added the design is 12 inches by four inches and is by far the largest piece he has on his body.

A concert recently held at Carnmoney Presbyterian Church in Newtonabbey, Northern Ireland helped raise more than £6,000 for the Help for Heroes cause and featured performances from Festival Brass.
