A landlady will be embarking on a walking challenge in an effort to raise funds for brave soldiers.

Louise Richardson, who runs The Village Inn Pub in Beoley, is to trek 100 miles in five days in aid of the Help for Heroes charity, the Redditch Advertiser reports.

The feat will see her walking 20 miles a day and the pint-puller is aiming to gather £3,000 for the campaign.

Ms Richardson will be carrying a tent round every day so she can sleep in the structure at night.

The 23-year-old explained her motives: "Everyday you read something about these brave men and women and what they do and I just wanted to show my support for them."

A charity band showcase has been arranged to perform on her return to the pub and help generate even more funds, she added.

The Tewkesbury Admag recently reported how athlete Will Herbert raised £300 for the Help for Heroes cause by taking part in a Cheltenham triathlon.
