{"id":510,"date":"2010-09-16T16:46:00","date_gmt":"2010-09-16T16:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/p=?510"},"modified":"2010-09-16T16:46:00","modified_gmt":"2010-09-16T16:46:00","slug":"art-gallery-poetry-event-for-hero-soldiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/gb\/news\/art-gallery-poetry-event-for-hero-soldiers\/","title":{"rendered":"Art gallery poetry event for hero soldiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Southport Art Gallery is helping to support soldiers with a poetry-inspired event next month.<\/p>\n<p>In honour of World War I poet Wilfred Owen the gallery is launching a week-long exhibition on October 31st to raise money for Help for Heroes, the Midweek Advertiser reported.<\/p>\n<p>Owen was killed at the Battle of the Sambre 92 years ago, just a week before the war came to an end.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for the display is Dulce et Decorum Est and is inspired by Owen's work, which highlighted the conditions faced by World War I soldiers each day.<\/p>\n<p>Local photographer and event organiser David Chadderton said the event honours all soldiers.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Today, our British troops face a very different threat and operate in extreme conditions in many parts of the world,&quot; he commented.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition will feature the work of members of the Creative Arts Initiative.<\/p>\n<p>Help for Heroes has recently received a boost of more than &pound;10,000 following a cross-Channel kite-surfing relay race involving personnel from the Army, Navy and RAF.<\/p>\n<p>Posted by Samantha Thompson<br> &nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"ADNFCR-2867-ID-800068297-ADNFCR\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.directnews.co.uk\/feedtrack\/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2867&amp;itemid=800068297\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An art event is being held in Southport in honour of a World War I poet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":6182,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-510","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-support-soldiers"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
