A woman has faced her fear in an effort to raise money for injured soldiers.

Gemma Reap, 20, who is scared of heights, took part in a charity skydive to generate funds for Help for Heroes, the Basingstoke Gazette reports.

The daredevil reached speeds of 120 mph during the stunt, in which she fell 13,000 ft in a tandem skydive.

She managed to raise £670 for the campaign, which looks after wounded servicemen and women.

"It was an amazing feeling but I was completely terrified at the same time," Ms Reap remarked.

Tony Trown, the north Hampshire co-ordinator for Help for Heroes, described her as "extremely brave" and called her a "heroine".

He added her achievement will stay with her for the rest of her life.

The Vivaro Vault, a Vauxhall van that has been travelling the UK to raise money as part of the Drive for Heroes tour, recently finished its journey after visiting numerous Vauxhall showrooms and factories.
